MATCH REPORT : OSSETT VE ST. HELENS 26 DECEMBER 1888 The Saints went on tour to Yorkshire to face Ossett on Boxing Day. The match was well-contested and at half time the home side led by 3 minors to nil with both teams missing pout on try opportunities. The second half witnessed some better play from both teams. The Saints managed to wrk their way up to the Ossett territory and Billy Lund was rewarded with a good try. Sadly, Joe Allen failed to improve. Soon after Diggle of Ossett dropped a splendid goal which maintained the scoring edge for the rest of the encounter. Score:- Ossett 1 goal and 3 minors to St. Helens 1 try |
