MATCH REPORT : ST. HELENS V BOOTLE 25 SEPTEMBER 1886 It was a very fast and exciting game, in which the Saints had the best of it. The match was noted for several dashing runs by Ted Foreman, Albert Title and Joseph Halton and good kicks from Joe McLaughlin. In the forwards Richard Ellison, Alec Borthwick and Edward Kershaw were prominent and for Bootle Roberts and Riddoch were the pick. Kershaw and Ellison were try scorers for the Saints.
