MATCH REPORT : ASPULL V ST. HELENS 11 APRIL 1894 Lancashire Club Championship Replay A large attendance of spectators witnessed the proceedings. Billy Cross for St. Helens kicked off against a very strong wind., Hope of Aspull returning the oval into touch. Subsequently, Tom Sudlow ran through the home lines and Aspull were severely pressed. William Lloyd Davies of St. Helens dribbled most ably to score the first try of the match. Bob Doherty and Davies again scored tries to place St. Helens well in the lead at half time. In the second half Aspull improved their play and eventually scored a try through Rhodin. The score was not converted. Score: - St. Helens 3 tries and 9 points to Aspull 3 points. |
