MATCH REPORT : ST HELENS V SWINTON 5 APRIL 1894 The Swinton ream were assisted by Barnsley and Bartlett of Salford FC and the Saints included Jack Seddon of the Recs and Buff Berry of Tyldesley. The homesters played against the wind in the first half but had the best of matters. Ben Howarth scored a try for the Saints which Jack Seddon failed to convert. In the second half Bartlett scored a try for Swinton which was not improved by the scores were now equalised. The Saints pressed hard as the final whistle threatened and William Lloyd Davies went in for another try. The result of a great game was St. Helens 2 tries and 6 points to Swinton 1 try and 3 points. |
