MATCH REPORT : WIGAN V ST. HELENS 18 FEBRUARY 1891 St. Helens were in Wigan last week to play the Club of that ilk. The players could hardly distinguish each other because of the dense fog. The Saints had the assistance of Billy Matthews and William Hodgson from the Recs. Billy Cross was never seen to better advantage , the “Duke” worked like a horse throughout the game. At the conclusion of events a drawn game was declared with neither team registering a major point. Score: - Wigan 2 minors to St. Helens 1 minor |
