MATCH REPORT : T. HELENS V TYLDESLEY 28 APRIL 1894 About 5000 spectators assembled at Knowsley Road to witness the match against the ‘Bangers’. The Saints were due to their winning gold medals a s Second Division Lancashire Champions but they had not been received by the Saturday morning. The match itself was very exciting bit the Saints had the best of matters. Soon enough the irrepressible Bob Doherty scored a great try which was converted by Tom Sudlow. In the second half Tom Sudlow and Sam Rimmer gained unimproved tries for the Saints but both tries were unimproved. Score: - St. Helens 3 treis and 1 goal - 11 points to Tyldesley 0 |
