MATCH REPORT : The Saints made the long trek down to Cardiff University to face the Cardiff Demons in the second match of their 2025 Challneg Cup campaign. The first 15 minutes of the game remained scoreless with some highly creditable defence on display from the Demons. The first try went the way of stylish Erin Stott who was following up great work by Salihi and Casey. Gaskin converted the try. Next on the scoresheet was Georgia Sutherland who was demonstrating power and some fine form. Again Faye Gaskin obliged with the conversion. A spirited attack by the Demons was met with resolute Saints’ defence. The third try for the away team was scored by Dani McGifford in the corner following excellent centre play from Amy Hardcastle. Faye failed with the conversion. This left the scoreline at 16 points to nil at the break. With just three minutes into the second stanza some powerful runs from the middles culminated in Sutherland storming over from thirty metres over for her second try. Gaskin obliged with the conversion. Eight minutes later Amy Hardcastle demonstrated her class from a lovely short pass by Faye Gaskin. The latter’sconversion pushed the scoreline out to 28 points to nil. In the 57th minute Mottershead went on a trademark weaving run culminating in a delightful evasion of the Demons’ full back to provide an easy conversion for Faye. On the next set a beautiful finish from Luci McColm in the corner gave the Saints an unassailable lead. The Saints continued to demonstarte their prowess for the remainder of the match with Casey, Harris and Hook adding further tries.
