MATCH REPORT


MATCH REPORT : Saints took the lead three minutes in. The visitors shifted the ball down the left edge, Faye Gaskin threw a cut-out pass to Leah Burke, who palmed off the fullback before going over to the left of the sticks. Gaskin added the extras, 0-6 Saints led. Saints’ ‘5 had her second try seven minutes later. Saints had numbers down their left edge, Rachael Woosey finding Burke with the final pass to score. Gaskin added the extras, 0-12. Three minutes later, Saints had their third try. Paige Travis broke down the left edge, she found support from Gaskin on her outside and she raced 40 metres to score. She turned four points into six with the conversion, 0-18. Our fourth try quickly followed. Beri Salihi broke down the left edge and found Travis supporting on her inside. Gaskin added two more points, 0-24. Saints’ #1 then grabbed one for herself. In a great move from the visitors, Jodie Cunningham found Chantelle Crowl, shes found Gaskin after breaking and she passed to Salihi who scored under the sticks. Gaskin converted, 0-30. 22 minutes in, Saints had their sixth try. They moved it right from under the sticks, Zoe Harris finding Danielle McGifford who scored in the corner. Gaskin couldn’t convert, 0-34. Travis then had her second try of the day. From a scrum, Saints went left and Travis broke away to score. Gaskin couldn’t convert, 0-38. Saints’ eighth and final try of the half came two minutes before the break. The Red V moved it through the hands down our left edge and Woosey broke before finding Burke who scored her hat-trick in the corner. Gaskin couldn’t convert, 0-42 Saints led at the break.

Travis wrapped up her hat-trick two minutes into the second half. Saints move it left, Travis spotted a gap and took full advantage before palming off the fullback to score. Gaskin converted, 0-48. Saints had another five minutes later. Saints shifted it central, Jodie Cunningham ran at a retreating Warrington defence and forced her way over from close range. Gaskin converted from in front of the sticks, 0-54. Burke then grabbed her fourth try. Saints moved it left, Travis helped it on to Woosey who again found Burke to score in the corner. Gaskin couldn’t convert, 0-58. Another followed. Saints had numbers down the right and went that way, Salihi found an offload to Harris, she found Erin Stott who scores down the right edge. Gaskin converted, 0-64. Stott grabbed her second soon after. Saints went right, Cunningham found Stott who went over in the corner. Gaskin’s conversion hit the post, 0-68. Saints had another from the kick off. Chantelle Crowl had a big break downfield and found Salihi in support who raced half the length of the pitch to score. Gaskin converted, 0-74. Tara Jones then added her name to the long list of try scorers. Jones grabbed the ball deep inside our own half, and raced around the Warrington defence to grab our 15th try of the afternoon. Gaskin converted, 0-80. Meg Williams grabbed the 16th. Burke and Woosey combined down the left edge for a break before being halted. Saints then shifted it right, Cunningham finding Williams to score in the corner. Gaskin converted, 0-86. There were two final tries. First, Georgia Sutherland broke through a gap before grounding against her former side. Stott then completed her hat-trick after breaking down the right edge after collecting an offload. Gaskin converted both, as Saints wrapped up the League Leaders Shield with a 0-98 victory over Warrington Wolves at Victoria Park.
