MATCH REPORT


MATCH REPORT : Saints opened the scoring five minutes in. Faye Gaskin kicked high to our right edge, Paige Travis claimed it before stepping inside to score. Amy Taylor missed the kick, 4-0 Saints led. Ten minutes later, the lead increased. Georgia Sutherland went for the line but was held up by a few Warrington defenders. The following play, Saints went left, Tara Jones found Taylor, who threw a cut-out pass to Eboni Partington who scored in the corner. Taylor missed the kick, 8-0. Saints’ third try came 22 minutes in. Vicky Whitfield broke through the middle of the field with her first touch, she then found the supporting Gaskin on her outside who was able to score from distance. Taylor converted, 14-0 Saints led. 26 minutes in, Saints had their fourth. Saints forced a Warrington error on their own line. A couple of plays later, Jones was able to cross from close range. Taylor converted, 20-0. Travis grabbed her second try with five minutes of the half to go. Emily Rudge and Partington broke down the left edge. A few plays later, Jones found Travis who threw a show and go before scoring in the corner. Taylor converted, 26-0. Just before the break, Saints had their sixth try. Gaskin got through the line and found the supporting Shona Hoyle on her inside to score under the sticks. Taylor added the extras, 32-0 Saints led at the break.

Warrington responded three minutes into the second half. Saints scrambled to prevent a Warrington try, however the following play, Charlize Magraw was able to force her way over in the corner. Michelle Davis converted, 32-6. Saints replied, a break down the middle of the field saw Jones find Rebecca Rotheram, who won the race to the sticks from long range. Taylor converted, 38-6. Just before the hour mark, Saints had try number eight. The Red V worked it from left to right and Whitfield found Hoyle who went over from close range. Taylor converted, 44-6. Saints then forced a Warrington error on our own line. From the restart, the ball found its way to Erin Stott on the right wing, and she raced the length of the pitch to score in the corner. Taylor converted, 50-6. There was still time for one final try. Saints went right from dummy half, the ball found its way to Travis and she forced her way over from close range to complete her hat-trick. Taylor added the extras, as Saints secured second spot with a 56-6 victory over the Wolves.
