MATCH REPORT : Saints started well, earning a penalty in Wigan territory before also forcing a goal-line dropout. The dropout didn’t go ten, which gave the hosts another penalty. A few tackles in, Saints went left and Faye Gaskin threw a show and go before diving over to score down the left-hand side. Amy Taylor converted from near the left touchline, 0-6 the Red V led. It took until the 28th minute for the next Saints try. A great, flowing move through the hands, as Saints went from left to right and that ended with Erin Stott finding Phoebe Hook to score in the corner. Taylor converted again, this time from the right touchline, 0-12 to the visitors. Those were the only points of a very tight first half battle, as Saints led 0-12 at the break. It was the cherry and whites who grabbed the only points of a wet second half. They worked the ball to their left edge and Anna Davies went over in the corner, with the try being awarded following a discussion between the referee and touch judge. Beri Salihi was unable to convert, 4-12 Saints led. Despite both sides having chances to add to the score line, that is how it finished. As Saints move onto Wembley on the back of a 4-12 derby day victory at Robin Park Arena. Thanks to the Saints Media Centre for their excellent report. |
