Biography of Frank Heaps

HERITAGE NO :
Frank Heaps

HEAPS OF FRUIT

He was recruited for one match in the away fixture against Millom on the 3rd of May 1890. The Saints had arrived in Millom minus a few players and had to borrow players from local teams. Of course, the Saints had many connections in Kendal and they managed to secure the services of a couple of their rugby playing residents. St. Helens lost the last match of their season that day.

Frank was born in Kendal in November 1869. Frank`s father, Daniel, was an engine fitter but the family also ran a grocery business. Frank worked in that trade. He was a Kendal lifer and remained in the town all his days. He married Agnes Wells at Christmas 1891 and they went on to have 5 children. The family lived in Wildman Street in the town. By 1911 Frank was working as a fruitier supplier.

Frank died in Kendal in early 1939 at the age of 59.
