 HERITAGE NO : John Flynn CORPORATION WORKER John was a local lad who was born in St Helens in July 1866. His father, David, was an Irish boilermaker. In 1871 he was living in Water Street, St. Helens. Some time afterwards his father died and we find John living at Canal Bank East with his widowed mother. He made his debut on the 30th of March 1889 in an away victory at Crompton. In all the forward played nine matches for the Saints with last occurring on the 8th of March 1890 when the Saints lost an away fixture with Leigh. We believe John and his wife, Ellen, had a daughter Mary Elizabeth. John died in St. Helens in July 1952 at the age of 85. |
