MATCH REPORT : Warrington Wanderers v St Helens Rangers 11 November 1882 The enjoyable and agreeable game ended in a victory for the Wanderers by one goal (disputed) and one try (disputed) to Rangers nil. Where the ‘pleasantness’ and ‘ enjoyableness’ comes in is rather difficult to discover. It is evidently not recognised in the score; but probably it was only a little playful protesting on the part of the Rangers, and, for the want of a better word, the malignantly minded reporter has put in that indication of rows and fights, -“disputed”. |
