 HERITAGE NO : 1169 Chris was a product of the Orrell St James club, and was a back row centre. He joined the club at 15-years-old and was one of the stand-out players in the 2007 Academy Grand Final win. He made his debut off the bench against Salford in August 2007 and continued his development with an impressive spell on loan at Widnes in 2008. In 2009 he made his first start in the left centre position and scored a try in the 44 points to 22 win over Hull FC. In June of the same year he scored tries in impressive displays against Castleford Tigers and Celtic Crusaders. Chris added a brace of tries against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and a solo try against Harlequins. He was equally at home in attack or defence. The 2009 season proved to be a roller coaster season for the Saints. The ride however, ultimately ended in disappointment as the Saints trophy cabinet was laid bare for the first time since the 2003 campaign. Some sparkling performances were punctuated with below par matches as the club shaped a new team for the future and youth was given its head with Chris being one of the leading lights.
