MATCH REPORT


MATCH REPORT : Saints took a tenth minute lead at Victoria Park as Rachael Woosey picked up a loose ball before avoiding a few tackles to score. Gaskin added the extras, 6-0. Woosey doubled our lead ten minutes later. A risky offload by Warrington landed in the winger’s hands and she sprinted half the length of the pitch to extend our lead. Gaskin added the extras from in front of the sticks, 12-0. In a physical first half, Saints added their third try just before the break, Beth Stott found Rebecca Rotheram who saw a gap in the Wire defence and used her pace to score to the right of the sticks. Gaskin added the extras, 18-0. In almost the last play of the half we added our fourth try. Tara Jones made a big break down the middle of the pitch and she found Jodie Cunningham on her outside who then scored under the sticks. Gaskin converted, 24-0 Saints led at the break. Amy Hardcastle extended our lead in the opening quarter of the second half, running onto a Faye Gaskin pass and breaking through the Warrington defence to score. Gaskin converted from in front of the sticks, 30-0. Gaskin then added another assist, taking the ball from dummy half and throwing a cut-out pass for Danielle Bush to score in the left corner. Gaskin missed a tricky kick, 34-0. Naomi Williams added her name to the scoresheet on the hour mark, she got the ball on the right side and some good footwork saw her add to our lead. Gaskin added the extras, 40-0. Gaskin then added her name to the scoresheet. A neat one-two pass with Jodie Cunningham saw her force her way over from close range. Gaskin misses the kick, 44-0. Beth Stott found Cunningham again late on, she then threw a dummy to score in the right corner. Gaskin missed the conversion, 48-0. Naomi Williams then span away from a few tackles to add her second try of the game late on. Gaskin converted from in front of the sticks, 54-0. Kiera McCosh then grabbed a consolation for Wire late on as Saints failed to deal with a kick. Michelle Davis converted but it was Saints who emerged 54-6 winners.
