HERITAGE NO : Frederick Peter Davies GLASS FITTER Fred Davies was born in St. Helens on the 3rd of March 1875. In 1891 he was living with his parents close to the town centre in Westfield Street. His father, Samuel, was a flint glass maker whilst Freud was a an apprentice glass filter. This forward played his only first team matches for the Saints in the 1890s. His debut was against Walkden in an away figure on the 14th of October, 1893. The St. Helens team were victorious that day. Fred was also likely to have played for the Second team as well. In October 1898, Fred married Blanche Layton and they went on to have four children. The family were still living at 166 Westfield Street in 1939. Fred died in St. Helens in January 1946 at the age of 70. |
