HERITAGE NO : Thomas Evan Bell CENTRE FROM WARRINGTON Thomas was born in Warrington on Christmas Day 1868. His father, also named Thomas, worked in a chemical factory. As a boy Thomas lived with his family in Graces Row, Warrington. In the 1880s he moved to St. Helens to take up employment as a coal miner. He married Alice Smith in 1889 and they moved into 6 Fenton Street, St. Helens. Their daughter Mary Ann was born in 1890. Thomas played in the Saints A team and on the 23rd of September 1893 he played in the centre position in the away first team fixture against top side Runcorn. The Saints lost that match by 10 points to nil. Thomas died in St. Helens in July 1934 at the age of 66. |
