Biography of Isaac Wildman

HERITAGE NO :
Isaac Wildman

ROVING WILDMAN

We believe that Isaac was born in St. Helens on the 21st of June 1868. In 1881 he was living at 27 York Street, St. Helens and working as a coal miner.

The forward made three first team appearance for the Saints. His debut was on the 2nd of November 1889 in the away fixture against Kendal Hornets. Unfortunately for Isaac and the Saints, the long and winding road to Kendal ended in defeat. He played two further games against Kendal and Lancaster. Isaac was selected for just three first team matches though it is highly likely that he played for the Saints’ Reserves team as well.

As far as we know Isaac spent all his working shifts as a coal miner. In 1891, Isaac went to live with his sister Mary in Little Hulton, Bolton. On the 27th of October, 1894 he married Jane Carson in Bolton. The couple would eventually have five children and move to live at 170 Manchester Road in Little Hulton. Isaac relocated in the next decade to live at 12 Alexandra Terrace, Bryn near Wigan where he was again working down the local pit. The family boomeranged back to the Bolton area whee they settled in Tottington.

Isaac died in Horwich near Bolton April 1944 at the age of 75.
