Biography of John Broad |
---|
HERITAGE NO : John Broad HARD SOLDIER TO TACKLE There is very little information about this person, although if it is the ‘real’ John Broad, there is a military connection. Born in St. Helens in 1861, the 1891 census tells us that he was in the army, stationed at the Robertblose Barracks, Tanshelf, Pontefract, Yorkshire home of the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He was 30 at this time and from then on he is off the radar. He made his debut for the Saints on the 13th of October 1888 in the home victory over Bramley. John played in the forwards that day. He went on to play another three first team matches. |
