HERITAGE NO : oseph Dixon CRISPIN STREET LABOURER Joseph was a local lad who was born in St Helens in St. Helens in April 1866. His father, Robert was an iron moulder. In 1881 he was living with his parents and siblings at 10 Pottery Street, St. Helens. At the time he was working as a chemical labourer. He was probably a reserve team player who made his first team debut on the 28th of November 1885 against Widnes. The result of that particular match is not known. He played at home for his second game against Litherland on New Years Day, 1886. The Saints were defeated on that occasion. He married Jane Catherine Lynch on the 13th of June 1886 at Sabred Heart Church in St. Helens. The couple went on to have 9 children. In 1891 the young family was living at 18 Crispin Street in the town and James was working as a coal pit labourer. He died in St. Helens in 1904 at the age of 39. |
