HERITAGE NO : Jim Hankinson GLASS BEVELLER Jim was born in St. Helens on the 7th of December 1864. His father, Thomas, was a coal miner. He married Elizabeth Hampson and they had three sons William, Edwin and James.. Jim worked as a glass beveller. He made his debut for St.Helens RFC on the 13th of September 1884 against Birkdale Free Warriors. Jim was part of a victorious side that day. The powerful forward went on to make further appearances for the Saints. Jim played many more matches for the local rivals St. Helens Recs. He married Elizabeth Hampson and they had three sons William, Edwin and James.. Jim worked as a glass beveler. The family moved to Pendleton, Lancashire in the 1990s and Jim carried his glass bevelling skills with him. He died on the 26th of June 1928 in Salford. |
