Biography of John Forshaw |
---|
HERITAGE NO : John Edward Forshaw MINER DIED EARLY John was a local lad who was born in St Helens in 1859. His father, Joseph, was a coal miner. He was brought up in the Parr district of St. Helens and in 1881 he was living at 114 Park Road, Parr St. Helens with his widower father. John is recorded as playing just one match for tHe Saints on the 7th of November 1881. It was an away fixture for the St Helens Rangers against their local rivals the Sutton Reserves side. John played in the pack of forwards and ended up on the winning team that day. Our records are somewhat limited because of the paucity of results and team sheets from that period. His number of appearances was likely to be higher. He was also likely to have played for the Second team as well. John married Elizabeth Ryder on the 27th of March 1884 but their happiness was short-lived. Sadly he died in St. Helens in April 1886 at the age of just 26. |
