HERITAGE NO : Robert Whittaker PEASLEY CROSS BLACKSMITH Robert was born in St. Helens on the 12th of December, 1866. He was just 14 years old when he made his debut for the Saints in a match against St. Helens Recs Reserves on the 5th of February 1881. He married Elizabeth Mary Shacklady and they went on to have a son named Robert. In 1911 he was living at 78 Exeter Street, St. Helens and working as a blacksmith. Robert died on the 18th of September 1932 at the Providence Hospital in St. Helens at the age of 65. At the time he had moved to live at 15 Greenfield Road in Dentons Green, an upmarket area of St. Helens. He left a tidy sum of £1595 to his widow. |
