MATCH REPORT : ST. HELENS RECS V ST. HELENS 4 DECEMBER 1886 Great disappointment was felt at St. Helens on the match day when the two chief football Clubs there learnt that neither of their proposed opponents intended turning up, especially as the grounds were fitter the purpose of any game. So rather than disappoint their numerous spectators, the St. Helens Recreation and St. Helens F.C. settled their old differences by playing a drawn game at the Queens Recreational Grounds. On the day, so little of the old ill-feeling was shown that they have arranged to two matches for the near future. |
