Aspull then took control and Birchall dropped a goal and Brammill scored a try but the conversion failed. Shortly before half time St .Helens gained a try from Alec Borthwick After the change of ends St. Helens quickly scored two tries. These scores appeared to spark more life into the Aspull side.
