BIOGRAPHY

When the Saints turned up for the match against Leeds at Headingley, during the war years, they were short of playing personnel. One such addition to the side was a player borrowed from the opposition. Jack Kelly was a former member of Bramley Old Boys RUFC, who was normally a forward, but was placed in the St. Helens threequarter line at the request of the home club. In 1939 Jack was Glebe Avenue, Leeds and working as an Engine Stoker on a Locomotive. He died in Leeds in March 1992, aged 75. If anyone has any further details about this player or an image, we would like to hear from you.
