 HERITAGE NO : 887 Tony Waller graduated through the Saints B and C teams. He was a skilled hooker who played for the Saints first team from September 1972 to April 1974. In this time Tony played 26 matches. He returned a solitary try for the club in the 30 points to 9 home victory over Wakefield Trinity on the 7th of September, 1973. Later Tony joined Warrington where he had a successful career. Utilising his trademark dummy he often led the Wire attack on hapless opponents. This crafty style of play was instrumental in securing Warrington’s victory over Wigan in the 1980 Lancashire Cup Final. Indeed Tony crowned this display by winning the Man of the Match. In total Tony played an impressive 114 matches for Warrington which demonstrated the calibre of his play. Following his days at Wilderspool Tony enjoyed two seasons with the tight knit squad at Blackpool Borough. Another link with the Saints was when the livewire number 9 had a trial with Leigh against the mighty Saints.
