 HERITAGE NO : 214 George Scholes was a half back from Wigan who played 19 matches for the Saints in the 1911 to 1912 season. He scored singleton tries against Runcorn and Ebbw Vale and had the pleasure to face the Australian touring team. Scholes was also useful with the boot, landing two goals against Salford. In 1911 he was living at 249 Whelley, Wigan and working as a Boiler Fireman above ground in a colliery. The 1939 Census finds him residing at 5 Copperfield, Wigan.
