 HERITAGE NO : 828 This hard running, hard tackling loose forward or second row was brought up close to the ground in Gladstone Street. He played 29 matches for the first team between January 1966 and September 1968. Joe was sold to Barrow for 1500 pounds after this spell. His wife told us that Joe used to travel up to Barrow by train. Away from the rugby field Joe worked for the Council as a Contracts Manager. Joe died back in St Helens in January 2009, aged 60.
