Biography of Bob Prosser



HERITAGE NO : 826
Bob was signed from Newport RU where he had struck up a winning partnership the mercurial David Watkins. He made his debut against the touring New Zealand team in September 1965. He was an excellent distributor and possessed a superb long pass which often helped unlock defences from scrum situations. The fact that he played so many matches in his two seasons at the Saints was testament to his ability, as Saints had international scrum halves Tommy Bishop and Alex Murphy on their books at the time.

Bob scored two tries for the Saints in matches against Salford and Barrow. He collected a losers medal in the 4 points to nil BBC Floodlit Trophy defeat to Castleford. However he collected a winners medal in the 1966 Championship Final against Halifax. In 1967 Bob moved to Salford where he was reunited with David Watkins. He trained as a teacher at Padgate College of Education, Warrington and enjoyed a long career in that profession.
