Biography of Tommy Parkinson



HERITAGE NO : 432
Tommy Parkinson was a most dependable chap who played full back for the Saints in 45 matches between August 1936 and October 1937. He was a Wiganer who lived in Station Road, Ince and was the cousin of the famous Billy Belshaw, whose father played for the Saints before the First World War. Before joining Saints he had a trial at Wigan Highfield. Tommy kicked three goals for the club.

In 1921 Tommy was living in Gaskell Street, Wigan. He lived with his father, William a Dataller at the Ince Colliery, mother Ellen, four brothers and an uncle.He worked as a Metal Machinist and in 1939 he was living in Gaskell Street, Wigan and he died in the town in June 1980, aged 70.
