Biography of Brian Parkes



HERITAGE NO : 923
Brian Parkes was an invaluable part of the Saints squad between 1977 and 1987. In eleven seasons he played almost 150 matches and scored 28 tries for the Saints. Brian graduated through the Saints Colts side and could operate anywhere in the backs. He established himself as a reliable full back with natural attacking qualities and a safe pair of hands. He was very adept at chiming into the attack as best illustrated with his brace of tries against Salford in January 1981.

This sprightly Saint was unlucky however when it came to honours. He was part of the Lancashire Cup team that lost to Warrington in the 1982 Final. Moreover, in the successful trophy season of 1984-5 Brian hardly got a look in regarding team selection. Brian was a member of the team that defeated the touring Kiwis in 1980 by 11 points to six.
