 HERITAGE NO : 945 Dennis was a lively hooker who played 11 matches for the Saints between April 1980 and December 1980. He relates his early days at Knowsley Road. I signed for the Saints straight from their Colts team on the same night that Brian Parkes also signed. Both of us had been playing for the Colts team on a Saturday and the Blackbrook side on a Sunday. I represented the Great Britain amateur team (BARLA) and played for Great Britain Colts against France. Tony Bolton was a great friend and team mate in those days. Dennis tells us that when he played against the Kiwis he was approached by their manager aces Mountford and invited to emigrate and play in New Zealand. Dennis was only 23 and had just got married. Obviously the possible move was just decision too many for the young man. Later Dennis moved to play for the Cardiff Blue Dragons together with erstwhile team-mates George Nicholls, Frank Wilson and Tony Karalius. Dave Dooley | ||||
