Owen Moore by Dave Dooley:

A product of Wigan junior rugby, Owen began his professional career with Salford before transferring to Saints in 1950/51. He made his debut against Oldham on the 15th of September 1951 and commanded the number nine jersey for much of that season. In 31 matches of the 1951/2 season he crossed the line twice in league matches against Warrington (Away) and Workington Town (Home). In the Championship winning season of 1952/3 Owen continued his run playing in the first five matches of the season when a shoulder injury prematurely ended his career in the 42 points to 2 away league victory over Liverpool City on September 6th 1952. This tragic conclusion to Owen`s career came at the start of that fantastic campaign. His misfortune paved the way for Reg Blakemore to secure the hooking role in the first team as Saints marched to their second championship-wining season.

In 1939 Owen was living in Ince Green Lane, Wigan and working as a Wagon Repairer. He died in Wigan in December 1990, aged 70.
