Biography of Jack Maloney



HERITAGE NO : 554
Jack Maloney played his first game for the first team in the league away defeat to Wakefield Trinity by 36 points to 3 in November 1942. He played on the left wing in this match. In the following season he played full back against the same oppostion. Jack played as a guest courtesy of the Wigan RL club alongside Riversiders colleagues such as Tommy Bradshaw and Martin Ryan at Knowsley Road. He was a regular winger for Wigan, indeed he played 106 matches scoring 21 tries for the club. Jack was a General Labourer for a Coal Dealer and in 1939 was living in Park House Farm, New Springs, Wigan. He died in November 1992, aged 73.
