 HERITAGE NO : 444 Roderick was a forceful prop forward who played six matches for the Saints between March 1936 and October 1937. He scored a try in the 22 points to 11 victory over Streatham and Mitcham. He worked as a Moulder which involved a great deal of heavy work. In 1939 he was living in Chadwick Road, St Helens. He died in July 1999, aged 86. Roderick had an interesting lineage with regards to names. He married Letitia Adams McCaw in St Helens in 1938. Letitia lived in the same house that she shared with Roderick in Chadwick Road right up to her death at the grand old age of 96. Our research uncovered another acquaintance of Roderick, Saints’ fan Ken Baines, who passed on the following observations. “I knew his son `Roddy` as we called him, while at Cowley School, and we were very close friends. We both ended up living and working in Hertfordshire, and he was my best man at our wedding. We visited Roderick in Chadwick Road and found him to be a warm, gentle man and expert bagpipe player. I didn`t know about him playing for the Saints despite the fact I am a keen Saints fan.
