 HERITAGE NO : 250 Robert Heaton was a lively stand off signed from local amateur outfit Sutton Victoria in 1916. He played 36 matches for the Saints during World War One. One of these games was against the South Lancs Regiment on March 3rd, 1913 and Robert starred by crossing for a brace of tries. He also kicked a few goals for the club including a couple in one of the three official matches he played for the side in 1919. Robert worked variously as a Coal Miner and as a Messenger Boy in a Glassworks in his youth. In 1939 he was living in Glover Street, St Helens. He died in his hometown in September 1967 at the age of 70. Dave Dooley |
