Heath Cruckshank by SHS An Australian who began his rugby league career in Queensland, Heath was brought over to England by Leigh coach Ian Millward in January 1999. Millward was a big admirer of his all-round abilities as a sound defender and saw him as a good signing for the Centurions. However, he broke his jaw in just his second game for the club. When Ian moved to Saints, he later signed Heath, who made his debut against Sheffield Eagles on 15th May 2001. It was a resounding 66-16 victory for his new club and Heath was on the interchange bench, together with Steve Hall, Tim Jonkers and Micky Higham. He mostly was a bench member during his time at Knowsley Road, his last appearance being against the touring New Zealanders in 2002, the week after the Grand Final. Heath later played for Sheffield Eagles, Halifax [2003] before returning to Leigh the following year. |
