HERITAGE NO : 1009
This Widnesian was a very hard worker and could play anywhere in the pack. Dave was a good distributor of the ball and a keen tackler. In 32 appearances he scored tries against Runcorn, Salford and Rochdale Hornets. Later he went to Huddersfield on loan.

Dave, from Widnes, was signed from Farnworth ARL by Alex Murphy and made 32 appearances in the team overall, in an era when Saints were desperately trying to flex their muscles in an attempt to reach the top.

An honest squad player, who added to a strengthening pack which included the likes of Andy Bateman, Stuart Evans, George Mann, Paul Jones, Kevin Ward and John Harrison, Dave made his senior debut against Hull in a 16-13 John Player Special Cup victory against Hull on 27 November 1988. His final game in the red vee was on 15 December 1991 at Hull KR when the signings of Jon Neill, Sonny Nickle and the emergence of Bernard Dwyer, pushed Dave down the pecking order.

A scorer of three tries, against Runcorn, Salford and Rochdale Hornets, he subsequently left for Huddersfield on loan in 1991, once again under Alex Murphy, who obviously saw something in him. Fans on the terraces at Knowsley Road could certainly see why!
