Jack Cayzer *
Jack played two matches for the Saints as a guest player during world War Two.
Jack originally was on the Saints books from 1930. After being signed off he was picked up by Wigan Highfield who he stayed with until Barrow signed him in March 1933.He was with Barrow until January 1935. In the next season 1935 to 1936 he was with Acton and Willesden but when they folded at the end of that season he seemed to disappear from the game.
He emerged in 1938 at Hull KR and as far as we know was never officially released so was playing as a war time guest at Wigan, making over 100 appearances for them as well as the couple of appearances for the Saints.
Finally after the war he signed with Leigh with whom he played until 1948.
In 1939 he was living in Tracks Lane, Billinge and working as a Collier. Thanks to Dave Huitson from Barrow for the additional information about the well travelled Jack Cayzer.
Keith Bowen contacted the SHS to add another anecdote concerning Jack. On December 25th 1944, Jack (who played a number of games alongside Keith`s father for Wigan) played for Wigan against St Helens at Central Park, the score was 20 - 5 in Wigan's favour. See the match summary in the profile. The very next day Jack turned out for St Helens on December 26th 1944 against Wigan at Knowsley Road, the match being abandoned after 57 minutes due to a pitch invasion, the score at the time was 12-3 in Wigan's favour.
