Biography of Len Ball

HERITAGE NO : 842
Len played his only match for the Saints in the 25 points to 10 home league defeat of Widnes on the 7th of April, 1967. Len Killeen was the star of the match scoring a hat trick and kicking four goals. He wore the number 10 jersey and completed the front row with internationals Cliff Watson and Bill Sayer.

A former pupil of Ashton in Makerfield Secondary School, which later became Cansfield High School, who played football, not rugby, Len took up the game with Blackbrook amateurs, where he was picked up by the Saints. A regular in the A team for several years, he displayed all the toughness you would expect a front-rower to have in those days.

Len left Knowsley Road for Rochdale Hornets for a spell and then retired from rugby. A former fitter by trade, he worked for companies in Warrington and St Helens before retirement.
