 HERITAGE NO : 129 This tough, local forward played 11 matches for the Saints between February 1904 and April 1904. It was a tough time for the St Helens club, who had recently been relegated from the First Division and were looking to re-establish themselves in the Top tier. He was acquired from the Warrington club where he had played 31 matches for the Wire in the previous season. In 1921 John was living in Langtree Street, St. Helens with his widowed mother, Sarah Anne who hailed from St Helens, five children, brother and a boarder . He was a Coal Miner in the Ashtons Green Colliery but was then out of work. We believe John died in his hometown in November 1950 at the age of 66. | ||||
