 HERITAGE NO : 1250 Operating at centre or back row, Josh Simm was a mainstay of the Saints Academy team in 2018, which reached the Grand Final. He scored 29 tries in 25 matches for the juniors, with his strength and fitness coming to the fore. A former product of the Thatto Heath club and grandson of former full-back Geoff Pimblett, Josh made his senior debut against London Broncos in 2019 and acquitted himself well. Josh was part of the Lancashire and England set-ups at youth level and was a team-mate of Jack Welsby at that level. In September 2020 Josh came into the side for matches against Hull Kingston Rovers and Huddersfield Giants and acquitted himself ably. Supremely fit, he proved to be a solid centre with strong runs and a powerful defence. Josh spent spells on loan at Leigh and Hull FC during his time at St Helens and he is remembered for a fine hat-trick of tries against Leeds Rhinos in 2020, during the height of the Covid-affected competition. He played his last of 19 games for the club against Wigan Warriors on 26th August 2022, on the right wing and showed his usual determination and pride in the red vee. When his contract expired at the end of the 2022 season, Josh moved to the famous Wynnum Manly club in Brisbane, who play in the Queensland Cup, the feeder club of the Brisbane Broncos. It provided him with an opportunity to continue his career with a different challenge in a strong competition Down Under. |
