The Saints signed Vincent Manase Mohenoa Anderson after he was originally bound for the London Broncos. However, financial meltdown at the southern club meant that the Saints obtained his signature. A New Zealand international second-rower who won five Test caps with his former club New Zealand Warriors, he went on to be selected for the Kiwi squad that played against Great Britain in 2006, when he was with St.Helens, for his final appearance in the famous black and white jersey at Knowsley Road.

Vinnie was in many ways an unorthodox player, who could play in a variety of positions and still make significant contributions to the team. Coach Daniel Anderson once used him to great effect during Saints� inaugural win against Catalan Dragons in Perpignan on the wing, where he scored two tries from high kicks. Pacy, with good hands and an opportunist try-scorer, Vinnie could tackle too. Remember the king hit on Wigan�s Danny Tickle at the JJB which became a veritable You Tube moment!

Unfortunately Vinnie was omitted from both the Challenge Cup and Grand final squads in 2006 and perhaps inevitably a parting of the ways ensued with his transfer to Warrington. His younger brother Louis eventually joined him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Vinnie was an entertainer, equally effective starting the match or coming on from an interchange. Saints often cavalier style of football certainly seemed to suit him and he was a popular figure with team-mates and supporters at Knowsley Road.
