 HERITAGE NO : 778 Mike was signed from Manchester RUFC in 1960 as a result of the same advertising campaign that netted Cliff Watson. He was a forceful forward who played mostly open side prop for the Saints from October 1960 to December 1962. He had a baptism of fire when he was selected to face the Australian touring team. In all Mike played 21 matches for the first team and scored two tries for the club. Both were against Salford on the 10th and 17th of February 1962. Competition at Knowsley Road in those days, with Watson and Abe Terry was very intense indeed and we do not know what happened to Mike after he left the club. We are aware that Mike has passed away but as yet we have no details of his death. Dave Dooley |
