BIOGRAPHY

He was known as Austin and amongst his friends as Ossie. He was born and bred in St. Helens and played at UGB before signing for Swinton and then Saints. Ossie played his rugby as a left centre. In the late sixties he coached a Moss Bank ARLFC side that produced players like John Walsh and Kenny Gill and won the Lancshire Amateur Cup in 1968. He later went on to train and coach at Pilkington Recs in the early seventies which at the time was one of the best amateur teams in the country.

Thanks to his son Dave Gillin for the information.
